Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) will be published in October in the journal Circulation.
The 2010 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) will be published in October in the journal Circulation. This publication is the culmination of a nearly four year international evidence evaluation process that included hundreds of volunteer experts from around the world reviewing and evaluating published peer-reviewed literature. More information about this process, as well as completed evidence evaluation reviews, can be found at www.americanheart.org/ILCOR Due to the ongoing nature of the evidence evaluation process, it is not possible to predict what changes, if any, may occur to current resuscitation guidelines. Until the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC are published, the content will remain under strict embargo, so any speculation relating to possible changes are premature. Once the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC are published, ECC Programs will release updated ACLS, BLS and PALS training materials that will reflect any changes in the Guidelines. Additional information will be released later this year to provide guidance around program administration issues related to implementing new science in our training programs and using new course materials once they are available. Additional information will be available over the coming months on the AHA Instructor Network (https://myportal.americanheart.org/eccportal/ecc/ecc) and AHA ECC Guidelines portal (http://myportal.americanheart.org/eccportal/ecc/ecc)). .
Sincerely, John Meiners Executive Vice President, ECC Programs
